Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for the provision and management of care to residents according to the residence policies and procedures. Care is provided within the framework of quality & risk management and the standards and scope of practice set by Carefor and the College of Nurses of Ontario for the Registered Practical Nurse. The supervisor is responsible to teach and delegate tasks to different levels of workers.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct supervision to the Care Team
  • Assess and direct the care of residents
  • Implement policies and procedures
  • Educate and mentor Care Team with treatment procedures
  • Work with other departments as it relates to the operational processes and requirements of the Civic Complex
  • Assist the Client Services Manager with the planning of staffing resources
  • Assess current, new, and potential residents according eligibility criteria
  • Complete admission and discharge processes as directed

Qualifications include:

  • Certificate of competence as a Register Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum five years clinical experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill in observation, assessment, and health teaching
  • Experience working with geriatric population
  • Experience working in a retirement care setting
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset
  • Knowledge of dementia and mental health illness an asset
