At Carefor Health & Community Services, we are dedicated to delivering compassionate home health care programs and community support services which are personalized to suit the needs of the individuals we serve.

As a locally managed, not-for-profit, charitable home health care leader, we have been helping those in need for over 118 years.

Fully accredited by Accreditation Canada, Carefor proudly serves 3 distinct communities: the City of Ottawa, Eastern Counties (encompassing Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry and Prescott & Russell) and Pembroke-Renfrew County.

Carefor Health & Community Services offers a basket of services including: Professional Services (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Dietitians), Personal Support Services, Adult Day Programs, in-home and overnight respite services such as Guest House, Assisted Living and retirement residences (Pembroke Civic Complex, the Carefor MacKay Centre, and the Richmond Care Home), and palliative care and hospice services (Hospice Cornwall).

Carefor also specializes in seniors' services, dementia and palliative care, support programs for the homeless and those living with mental health issues, as well as offering treatment and wellness clinics in the key areas that have been identified by each community we serve.

We are a community leader and partner with many other health care agencies, sharing expertise and offering support in planning the delivery of local services. Some of our current initiatives include: planning supportive housing projects, partnering in seniors affordable housing projects, leading the transportation network for the Champlain District, and coordinating seniors' services (Going Home from hospital and Regional Emergency Geriatric Service).

Carefor’s Board of Directors is made up of 40 dedicated community-focused leaders who volunteer their time to promote the health and well-being of our organization. The Board leads by setting the strategic directions, providing guidance to management, actively monitoring the quality of services, operations and fundraising and rigorously evaluating accomplishments through 8 Standing Committees.

Our dedicated team consist of 1,300 staff and 1,000 volunteers, who are the backbone of our organization. We believe in actively supporting continuing education opportunities for all of our staff and volunteers. Affiliations with universities, community colleges, the Alzheimer Society and Bruyère Continuing Care, to name a few, is fostered to ensure our staff and volunteers use best practices in all of our services.

None of this would be possible without the help of our generous donors and corporate supporters. Our supporters reinforce our capacity to provide compassionate, local home health care and community support services. We carry no financial debt and ensure all donated funds go to enhancing our programs and facilities to provide client care to those who are most in need in our community.

Our proactive approach to our services and programs have made us who we are today, exceptional, compassionate leaders in the communities we serve. I would like to take this time to personally thank all of our supporters for their personal investment in Carefor. We look forward to serving the Ottawa, Pembroke-Renfrew County and Eastern Counties for the next 118 years!
